ABOUT US

It is a fact that in 1975, there were no Latino fraternities or Latina sororities in existence in the United States. Lambda Theta Phi originated the concept of embracing the ideals of brotherhood, Latino unity, cultural awareness, and community service within the Greek-letter fraternity, all for the progress and empowerment of our people.

Lambda Theta Phi is the first Latin Fraternity to ever be founded. After our fraternal emergence in 1975, numerous other Latin Fraternities began to come into existence. This would include Lambda Sigma Upsilon (1979), Lambda Upsilon Lambda (1982) and more to follow. Lambda Theta Phi served as both the stepping stone and the role model for such Latin based Fraternities to develop and grow, earning us the name "Leaders of the Latino Greek Movement". Today there are numerous fraternities based on Latin roots and culture, and although the brotherhood that we have set out to create is often imitated, It will never be duplicated.

On February 6th, 2011, 10 determined men were able to bring this great Fraternity to North Carolina State University. This was the beginning of Gamma Sigma Chapter, The Guardians of the Lost Colony. Today, the brothers of Lambda Theta Phi serve as leaders, mentors, and role models to other students on our campus.
